CARPET CARE & MAINTENANCE

Learn About the Best Way to Care for Your New Carpet

Carpeting Care Basics

At Webb Carpet Company, we believe that you need frequent care and maintenance to keep your new carpet looking beautiful and feeling plush. While we understand you don’t necessarily have a lot of time to invest in upkeep, following some simple and easy care and maintenance tasks will ensure the longevity of your carpet.

Preventative maintenance, like removing outdoors shoes before walking across your carpet so you don’t track dirt inside the house and using a good quality carpet pad for additional support, is a great first step!

Establish a care and maintenance routine that also works with your current cleaning schedule. For most of our products, daily to weekly vacuuming with a manufacturer’s approved appliance is really all you need to keep your carpets looking and feeling great!

Professional Carpet Cleaning

Periodically throughout the year, we also recommend either a professional cleaning or giving your carpets a shampoo at home. Incorporate this into your spring-cleaning to remove any wintery residue, or at the first signs of autumn to prepare your home for each new season.

Prior to hiring a professional cleaning company, or shampooing your carpet yourself, make sure to also consult the manufacturer’s cleaning guidelines! Regardless of what kind of care and maintenance routine you establish for yourself, always make sure you’re following the recommendations of your carpet manufacturer, to ensure maximum effectiveness and a beautiful end result.

Carpet Stain Removal

No matter how hard you try to be careful, messes can fall onto your carpet over a period of time. Many of our carpets are sold with stain resistant technology built into the fibers, like Shaw Floors carpet with R2X, which makes cleaning common household stains a breeze.  Watch how the R2X technology repels stains and soils.

Your first inclination when it comes to common household stains like spilled juice, soda or wine and bloodstains or pet accidents, is to just jump right in and clean up the mess. We recommend that before you tackle cleaning any spills, stains or soils on your new carpet, you establish whether it’s an oil-based stain or water based stain, then consult our common stain removal guides. Since some messes will just wipe away with a cleaning cloth and others will require comprehensive stain removal directions, it’s best to consult with our common stain removal guide.
